What

Several activities are available to us that evening:
Pool included - 3 tables for 5 hours
Darts free
NTN trivia free
NTN poker free
Video games pay per use
Foosball pay per use
Cards free
Cribbage free

It was a great evening with a few games of pool. I think the conversation around the main room was so good that nobody bothered to venture out and use any of the other amenities.

Parking

There is a parking lot right behind Billy Bob's. If you turn north on Riverview Gardens you will see a parking lot on your right just behind Billy Bobs. There is a second parking lot on the other side of the street. It's a Green P parking lot so the price is reasonable.

Sound and Fury

We had a nice sound system for the evening courtesy of Greg. This allowed us to be easily heard amid the revelry. Of course, Harry had to put us all to shame by doing his Toast of the Evening on "Projection". To emphasis his point he didn't use the microphone. Another lesson well learned.

Food

BBQ Buffet Meal

Market garden vegetable platter/dip
dinner rolls
Mixed Three bean salad in tomato dressing
Classic Caesar salad
Texas style baby back ribs
Grilled Chicken breasts in BBQ sauce
Marinated Grilled Season vegetables
Baked potato or herb roasted potatoes or potato skins

Billy Bob's staff assured us that they'll have enough extras that our vegetarian friends will be happy. And enough ribs and chicken for our carnivourous friends. And they were right. It was just the right amount of food. The management was nice enough to also help Gino out in his quest for ultimate flavour by providing some horse radish as well.

Dessert

We already have a donation of cheesecakes courtesy of Jackie and Second Cup. Thank you Jackie! We will also be having chocolate cake.

When Jackie got there she told me we were having "eggnog cheesecake". And the way she said it made me instantly think it wouldn't be any good. Little did I know that she was just practicing her vocal variety to try to trick us! Truly she wanted to have all the cheese cake goodness to herself! I am not a big fan of eggnog but I must say that this was the best cheesecake I have ever tasted! It was a great way to end off the meal.

Drinks

Drinks were pay-as-you go. However, there was an option of bringing our own wine to the party for a corkage fee of $15.00 per 750ml. The management at Billy Bobs was nice enough not to charge us a fee for our Champaign for the toast of the evening.

Prizes

Best Toast of the Evening

We had several fine toasts this evening. It was a strong field of competitors including James, Priti, Harry, Michele B., Sandy, Dan, Sai, and many others.

All toasters of the evening were rewarded for their participation with a free glass of Dom Perignon champaign. After a very non-scientific judging of the best speech by audience applause Greg declared that Priti was the winner.

Priti's winning toast was about Hotels, Chocolate, and Leather. For her efforts she won a bottle of wine.

Club Awards

Some of these awards are serious, and some less so. In all cases our goal was to recapture the memories of the last six months and celebrate our success -- often in a humourous way.

The winners

  • Most Improved Speaker (speeches) - Herbert
  • Most Improved Speaker (table topics) - Frank
  • Best use of theme -- for his Halloween Mask Brian was a winner
  • Special appreciation -- for arranging many of the donations and the cake -- Jackie Monahan
