Meeting Program / Agenda - Typical Outline (revised July 2010)

  • Call to Order and Introduce Toastmaster by S.A.A.
  • (Toastmaster assumes control of the meeting)
  • Royal & Loyal Toast
  • Introduction of Guests - Guests are welcome to say a few words about themselves
  • Review Roles Assignment for the meeting
  • Word of the Evening
  • Toastmaster Tips
  • Business Session - The Toastmaster leads the discussion of club business through which members practice procudural skills.
  • Table Topics - This is the segement where members practic their impromtu speaking skills. The Table Topics Master lead the segment by briefly explaining the rules and topics. Each member typically has 1 - 2 minutes to speak about a random topic without prior preparation. Participation by guests is voluntary but encouraged.
  • Prepared speeches - Typically up to 4 speeches are delivered by members. These speeches are prepared based on projects from the communication and leadership manuals.
  • (General Evaluator assumes control of the meeting)
  • Speech Evaluation - Following the speeches, designated member (evaluator) for each speech provides an evaluation
  • Meeting Reports - Best Table Topics speakers and Best Speech Evaluator are announced; Timer comments on timing of the meeting; counter/grammarian reports on Ahs, ums, and grammatic errors; Quiz Master tests members' listening skills; Humour Master shares jokes and funny stories. General Evaluator reports on the proceeding of the meeting - pointing out the strong points and areas for improvement.
